ABOUT

yoga in the 💛 of riverside • since 2012

We offer yoga to those from every walk of life. Every week there are over 45 classes offered, along with multiple workshops. The diverse, talented and experienced team of instructors offer classes ranging from Gentle Beginner Yoga to Slow Yoga to Hot Power Yoga.

The studio was opened in summer 2012 by Lauren under the name Reveille Yoga. A few short years later the studio was taken over by Casey, during that time the space went under major renovations (the bones of which have not changed). In August 2020, Reveille was on the verge of having to close its doors due to the shutdown associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Frank stepped in to take the reins and rename it Tula Yoga.

Tula means balance in Sanskrit. For Frank, yoga has always been and will continue to be where he goes to find balance in his life. We want Tula Yoga to be that place for you. Whenever you are feeling a little down or life throws you a curveball or things just aren’t working out as you planned, that’s when you can go to yoga. It can bring balance to the sadness, anxiety, chaos and uncertainty. Tula Yoga is a place that you can come to for sanctuary, escape and support from our crazy world.

FRANK ORTIZ
Yoga Instructor & Owner

Frank attended his first yoga class in April 2015 and from then on he was hooked. He began yoga as a way to stay fit and healthy while easing the impact on
his knees and ankles. He soon found that yoga was so much more. Frank believes yoga is a way of life, a method, a thought process, a feeling you carry with yourself all day everyday.

In June 2016, Frank completed his 200 hour yoga teacher training under the guidance of Jared McCann at Lighthouse Yoga School. Through that experience he deepened his understand of asana, pranayama and meditation.

Frank began teaching at Reveille Yoga in October of 2017. His love for advanced asana is shared through his advanced classes. His ultimate respect for calmness and learned flexibility is brought in through his Yin classes.

When Frank isn’t at the studio sharing his love for the yoga practice, he is traveling with his husband or is home with his cats and tortoise.

ANGELIQUE BAXTER
Yoga Instructor & Front Desk Manager

Angelique has been practicing yoga for over 6 years. She was a former dancer and started dancing at the age of 3 and was classically trained in ballet and tap. When she suddenly had to give up dancing she turned to yoga and instantly fell in love. Yoga taught her so much more than all the years she dedicated in dancing. She loved the idea that within yoga, she could truly express herself with no judgments or worries.

Angelique’s classes are filled with "flowy flows" to get your body and heart rate moving. She also offers options for you to challenge yourself or modify. She hopes that everyone who practices with her come as they are and consider their yoga mat a safe place - a home.

When she’s not teaching yoga you can catch her at the front desk or her home caring for her plants!

JANEA ALCÉ
Yoga Instructor

Janea began her journey on the yogic path in 2015 while looking for an outlet from the busyness of life. Yoga helped her uncover parts of herself and inspired her to live mindfully from day to day. In 2017 she decided she wanted to learn more about the sacred practice. In July 2018 she completed her 200 hour teacher training at Nirvana School of Classical Yoga under the leadership of Leigh Anne Neal. She will always be a student of the practice and is beyond grateful for the teachers who have inspired her along the way. Her classes offer a moderate mindfulness flow and the space to turn inward. Her hope is to help others elevate their minds and soul with yoga as the vehicle.

JOSEPH ORTEGA
Yoga Instructor

Joseph found his yoga practice in 2018 during undergrad and did not look back. After three years of practicing with youtube videos/popping in and out of studios he decided to embark on his teacher training journey. In July of 2022 he completed his 200 hour program with CorePower Yoga in Denver, CO. From August 2022 through February 2023 he attempted to balance teaching yoga and young minds quickly making the shift to the yoga studio full time. He shortly completed his 50 hour yoga sculpt training and received his 300 hour certification in November of 2023. Working as an instructor, studio coordinator, and teacher training coach for CorePower he has been able to acquire many hours of experience. Having the opportunity to work for a health and wellness spa his personal teaching style expanded, being able to teach various formats, props, and teaching to different levels of experience. Joseph aims to leave you feeling reset, refreshed, and empowered. "When we heal our inner world, we heal those around us. Creating a catalyst of change." It's a journey each time you step on your mat.

KYRA HUCKABY
Yoga Instructor

Born and raised in California, Kyra attended her first yoga class when she was 16. Quickly, she fell in love. Mostly she enjoyed the idea that everyone was practicing the same thing completely different.

She attended The Marianne Wells 200-hr YTT in Costa Rica in December 2015. Kyra’s class is fun and playful, with options to amp it up a notch or tone it down. She hopes everyone coming to her classes challenges themselves by crossing boundaries they never thought possible. Her main goal as an instructor is create a beautiful balance of staying in tune with yourself, and getting lost in the moment.

LAUREL LABATE
Yoga Instructor

Laurel has always loved movement, to the point that it’s hard for her to sit still! Growing up, she was always trying new activities and sports. Then, in 2008 she found yoga while living in S. Korea. After about 5 years of personal practice, she knew she wanted to teach but it would take her another 6 years to make time for official training. She completed her 200 hr RYT training in 2020 at Just Yoga in Corona.

Beyond just physical movement and challenge, Laurel believes yoga has brought so much more depth to her life, and given her tools that she didn’t even know she needed! She credits Pranayama techniques for helping breath through two home births and find calm in daily life with said children. Biomechanics has helped her understand certain injuries and helped her heal. Now, she loves to share those tools with others in her classes. She enjoys teaching creative flow classes with a focus on biomechanics.

When not practicing yoga, you can find Laurel (not sitting still) running around with her kids, hiking, or trying to garden.

Megan received her 200 Hour Certification in 2019 through The Yoga & Ayurveda Center in Pennsylvania. After she received her certification, Megan began teaching workshops, private lessons, and started the process of creating her company. Her journey eventually brought her to learn at Western Yoga College where she took her 200 hour Teacher Training and wanted to share the joy that yoga brought into her life with others.

With her experience, Rachell aims to bring a sense of empowerment to each of her classes through intention, breath, and movement. Her goal is to build our awareness to the foundation and alignment to ensure a safe practice as well as provoke mindfulness and gratitude to the body. Rachell is currently 500 hour certified.

TAYLOR GORDON
Yoga Instructor

Taylor has always had a deep love for intentional movement - as a former gymnast she relied heavily on the connection to her body to carry her through. Upon facing health challenges which created severe pain and inflammation throughout her body, she turned to yoga as a way to heal through mindfulness and more gentle movement. She began her practice in 2012 when she was introduced to a more holistic way of living and has continued on the path inward ever since; falling even deeper in love around 2016 when she became a certificate holistic health coach studying integrative nutrition. Combining this with her practice was a saving grace. Taylor completed her 200hr YTT through Yoga Blue Fitness in 2020- with a focus in Hatha yoga & meditation (it kept her sane during quarantine) She believes that building trust within our bodies is the foundation for creating a beautiful connection allowing us to listen to our unique physical needs. Through her classes and in our everyday life she is here to remind us that we are safe, supported and Divinely Whole. When she’s not in the studio you can most likely find Taylor at the beach, in a coffee shop or writing music.
